Primer question

My guess is these threads are due to the primer shortage, forcing people to consider using magnum primers in lieu of regular primers. We've been getting two or three such threads a week for what seems like months now...

Yes it's possible, you'll hardly notice a difference. The safety nuts on here would recommend you back down on your powder charge a bit just in case there's a slight pressure increase.

I've seen this question asked many times myself, but I'm wondering what happens in reverse. What differences should you expect by using a "regular" primer as opposed to a magnum one?

I read a document once that indicated that using magnum primers in some cartridges could cause the bullet to begin leaving the cartridge before all the powder was properly burnt. Supposedly it depends on the case and powder type. Slower burners were affected the most. The point the article made was that large cases didn't make much difference, but small cases caused issues.

I know you can't beleive everything you read, but the author was fairly convincing.
