Just got back from the range and notice the primers look different in 25% of cases. Most primers look normal have "flowed" and flattened somewhat, others still have promonent radius .. Any suggetions?? BTW all cases full sized, trimmed and only second reloading and each charge was measured with RCBS 5-10 scale..
Hopefully the picture is clear enough to show my concern..Thanks

I can't really tell. It looks like there is an area slightly smaller than the size of the primer that has created a bulge that sits prouder than the primer... is that what I'm seeing?

There is no cratering that I can see (Or is the right hand case cratered?) and the rim of the primers is not flattened. Is there a corresponding indentation on the face of the bolt? Were the primer pockets loose at all when you primed?

does not look to be in the "watch it zone" yet
weigh 5 of the ones with the flat primers and write down the numbers
weigh 5 of the ones with the round primers and write down the numbers

if numbers are close to each other you prob did not seat to the same depth
if the flat primers ones are heaver by a large amount that is causing it
other options primer pockets starting to go large

i have found RP brass to be in the load light to extend brass life catagory
some people love it / some hate it

primer problem

Not a bulge, that is a flat around the pin indent but there is still a radius which I never had with these loads. Most of the time the primer is pretty well flat, no original primer radius left.. Thanks for the replys..
