Primer removal

hey guys, I am making some dummy cartridges for my 8 mm mauser, I removed the bullets and powder already, if I fire a empty shell with active primer, is it dangerous? I know it sounds sort of a stupid question, thanks in advance.

Not dangerous, but do it as if the rifle was firing live ammo... Safety first!

a much easier method would be to spray wd40 inside the cartridge, then let it sit for a couple days...

Try it after you soak it. Many have tried and the soaked
primer still works.

just put it against an old pillow that has been soaked in water. no noise, no risk of damage

+1 just a loud pop. but be safe.

It is safe, but you might be surprised how load it is. Do it when wife is not home.

When I make dummy rounds I remove the decapper pin/expander from the sizing die and neck size. this will give max neck tension, so bullets do not come loose. i also run some Loctite in the case neck, to help hold the bullet.

The dangerous part of dummy rounds is that one day a real round might get added to the mix. That can get real loud. Not dangerous though, because we all practice safe muzzle control, right??
