Primer shortage

the only shortage is because people have been posting things like this since about October, and too many people have stockpiled components in their basement that will still be there in 10yrs.

Yea, we know all about it. The good thing is, once the panic buying is done, there should be a bit of a glut on the market that will hopefully drive prices down.

We need a poll. Who is done panick buying and who is still panicking. Its the only way to know.
I just sold 4000 in the EE to Pete04....or was it 6000. Can't remember. Anyway, I'm doing my part !!!!! (we won't talk about how much I still have stashed away)

I've got 1000 CCI large rifle primers. I have no shortage.
If I only had 1000 I'd consider it a serious shortage!

What do most people consider hoarding,
I have always kept more than a years supply on hand since the last shortage , early 90's I think . When a good deal comes along, well maybe more than a year bought 3000 large rifle for $10/1000 couple months ago traded most for large pistol , couldn't pass up either deal didn't dicker paid what they asked.

Canadian handloaders couldn't panic buy enough primers to effect the supply except in individual stores. Panic buying in the States is another matter, and with BO as president they have something to feel panicky about.

There are primers for sale, just do you want to pay the going price on them?
Pretty sure P&D in Edmonton has what you are looking,at $47.00 per thousand, now they won't ship them, but if you have a friend in Edmonton they can pick them up for you.
I bought quite a few rifles in the past year or two, and all the necessary supplies in brass, powder,dies, and primers to load all of these various calibers.
I came across a deal not that long ago where the seller had 12000 primers he wanted to sell so I bought them all.
Back when i did my first ever order to Higginsons, primers were cheapest if you bought 5000 at a time, and I thought at the time, as a beginner reloader," How long is going to take me to use 5000 primers". Screw it whats another $125.00 on the order. Well that was several years ago and I still have some of those primers to use if need be.
When it is your favorite hobby you can't have to much of it. FS

To each there own.
I restock my inventory when I am below 30K of primers. Have at times had close to 100K, but lately have been hoarding much less.
A gun is no good without ammunition or the ability to make your own.
I live by the fact that ammo could be outlawed tomorrow. If that was the case I'd still be shooting for the next five decades. Can't stop me from shooting, even without ammo!
I stalked up after the first and second primer scares, mid 90's and early 2000's. Primer shortages don't affect me in the least except for the fact that my fellow shooters are getting shafted.
