Yesturday was my second time making hand loads as i just entered the reloading world. I have a Classic Lee Loader kit and was priming 'large rifle primer' in my 30-06 brass. During the priming process it went off! The best explanation I can compare it to is like one of those kids cap-guns. It wasn't loud or anything intense at all. Very mild but i did see two little sparks come out from the top and that's why it's recommended to wear safety glasses during these processes.

Just thought I'd share this in case some who never experienced it were wondering. Have a good Sunday!

Yes, I take it he is talking about the pound-things-together-Lee loader. I have used those, but not a whale of a lot, and didn't explode any primer. But I know a lot of people have detonated primers, with that outfit.

You have to keep downward pressure on the die body as you tap the case on to the primer. You probably let the primer/case/die "bounce" on the primer seating die on the second or third tap so when the primer was tapped down it went off.

Set off 2 in using lee loader. Bit of a pop. I did however have one go off using the deprimer rod from a lee loader in an off label application (stupid I Know). Fingers stung for a few minutes but everything was okay. I don't recomend this.

My cousin had a whole tray of shotshell primers go in his progressive. lots of schrapnel and a visit to the emergency room.
