I've been hunting the early season with a CVA muzzleloader for the last several years. I'm using Blackhorn 209 and CCI Magnum 209 shotgun primers. It's been a fantastic combo with Barnes T-EZ sabots.

To my question... my initial purchase of 100 primers went a looooong way. But now I'm thinking I need to pick some more up after this season. Problem is that CCI Magnums don't seem to be out there anywhere. I see CCI Muzzleloader primers available but from what I've read they are weaker primers intended for powders other than Blackhorn. Any advice on what available primers I should be buying. Or even better yet, anyone have line on CCI mag shotgun primers?

Thanks.

I've read the same thing about the blackhorn 209. Just stick with any brand name 209 shotgun primer and you'll be fine, they aren't that hard to find. Winchester and federal seem available

My T/C has only fired Winchester 209 primers and Blackhorn with T-Ez bullets. Never tried mag primers, but gets great accuracy and velocity with standard 209 primers.
Buy 100 and check what the difference is between them. Likely won’t be much I’d guess
