I'm reloading Hornady using their specs in their recent reloading manual. I'm using SST's. I've turned out some 30-06 rounds in 150 grain for a friend of mine, he is very happy with these rounds.
My delimma: My friend has some great SST rounds, now what about me?
I have a 300 win mag. Hornady recommends Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers. I have spent 1 year, yes that's right, 1 year looking in Manitoba for them in the local major sporting goods stores in Winnipeg. They say they carry them but they are always out of stock.
I'm done with this disappointment. I'm tired of looking for what isn't there.
My question: If I use CCI LRM in substitute or any other LRM primer that is widely recommended what effect will it have on the overall load? Will I need to compensate with powder load? Or does it only come down to preference and reliability?
The stores have an abundance of CCI and even some Federal in LRM. I want to get some reloads done for myself but I'm hitting this stupid snag trying to find the recommended primers.
I'm trying to purchase primers without shipping them. I don't want to pay the extra $30-$40 for shipping a dangerous goods product.
Thank you for your time. Hopefully someone here can help me. I probably should have made this post a long time ago.
