Primers

Thank you for the informative thread on primers. It's too bad that peopl like EC try to change the tread to "out" gun nuts that need or want a larger supply of various primers. If you look at his recent threads you can see a person full of negativity. He contributed nothing to the OP's thread and even went so far as changing a posters wording.

Right now I might have 15k primers. But then I'm not a.high volume clays or.pistol shooter. Probably 30 different powders in a.large enough quantity to alarm soy drinkers. I'm good to ride out most storms. Then again the new regs are.going to hurt and bankrupt some retailers, once that happens reloaders may find themselves the next propaganda scapegoat. Primers would be the Achilles heel, and new battleground.

Better groups? Better standard deviation? BR2 are more money, that I can notice

ES SD are usually Better in a LOT of my cartridges . Like in the 22-250 - 6.5 CM 7-08 -308 -338 fed etc All those 35-50 gr capacity type cartridges . I like the CCIBR2 over the FED210M - Cost of primers is a NEGLIGIBLE difference to me ! :p RJ

Sigh…. After reading this post I feel so inadequate now that I only have 3000 large rifle , 1000 magnum rifle and 1000 small rifle primers. If a zombie apocalypse happens I’m doomed . I miss the good old days when my dad always had a few boxes of dynamite plus caps and cord stored in the shed so we could remove stumps and blow upheaved dams

Spare TNT I wish... A friend (British) asked me the amount of ammo components I have, my answer "not enough for me." I hold about 10 k primers, but as I "assist" friends who don't have space to or time on their single stage presses. They drop by and run some replace what they use, or store their stuff here.

I keep some of each brand in SR, SRM, LR, LRM. I have encountered "bad" batches, in all brands, that misfired a fair bit, had some when it was the gun's fault too. I am not scared to rework a load with a different primer to see if maybe it'll improve anything, or not. So far, I like RP 6-1/2 on the SR the best, F210M works best in the LR overall, F215M has been pretty consistent. I thought about buying some more CCI BR and WW match LR's, but balking at the prices at present, I don' need them that bad. I likely have plenty to keep me going for a while. I can wait a bit and see if pricing settles down a bit in a couple of yrs. I did buy some S&B's because they were so cheap, good enough for plinking purposes anyway, haven't tried them in anything yet though. And I still have lots of WW LR, CCI LR's and SR's and LRM, RP 9-1/2's to use up if neccessary.

Lg/Mag rifle- Federal
Sm RIfle- CCI
Lg pistol- Federal
Sm pistol-CCI

I've loaded over 50k rounds of ammo this year and have more primers ready to go. Some might call it hoarding but I call it buying in bulk, being prepared, whatever. :)

IMO nothing wrong with hoarding primers.

Stock up when cheap and plentiful, doesn't cost much and takes up little room (except the stupid big federal boxes...) and when stored dry they never go bad.

I just wanted to add for the haters here. I bought 3000 federal gmm lr yesterday at bass pro in Calgary. For 55$ a box. I’d have bought 10 more if they had more. Hoard-licious.

Having healthy stock is not hoarding. I have cut my primer stash in half the last three months. It's not hard with a progressive and buckets of brass and bullets.

Notice that most of the people who complain about "hoarding" are people without primers? I don't see anything wrong with someone buying as many of whatever the hell they want because it's their money. I'm not sure why I'm supposed to care if someone else has reloading components, I'm not your keeper.
