I've been looking around the internet for more info on primitive biathlon events in Ontario and Quebec. There's seems to be a few big ones in northern New York and Vermont, but nothing I could find local. IS anyone here into primtive biathlon? What's your gear set up?

I've been wanting to go down to the states for one of these for years and always found myself too busy to escape from work at that time. They do look cool. I picked up an old pair of wooden snowshoes at a garage sale a few years ago just for this. It'd be cool if there was something closer. It does sound like fun.

Well my noodle house has been working overtime since breakfast thinking about this and researching. I spoke to the president at my club today and he suggested that I make a plan and present it to the executive. I would like to stage an "open" fun match in the new year. It would likely be on a short course with 50 and 100 meter firing and a "bushcraft" stand as well (think tomahawks!). There would be no restrictions on types of snowshoes and smoke poles, depending on interest.

I was thinking 2 shots per lap one at 50m the other at 100m. Depending on the length of the course, which is likely going to be a 1500-2000 meter loop there will be 2-3 firing applications. I'm still hashing out the plan and researching some other events out of Vermont and New York. More to follow.
