My Primos Alpha Dogg is about 3 years old and gets out a few times a year. Bought back in 2013 (IIRC)...

I've already installed fresh Duracells AA in the remote (x3 AA) and the speaker unit (x 8 AA).

The Antenna indicator is ON position according to my digital remote (that's a good thing)

My problem is:

* really slow to find the speaker
* really slow to initialize (any upgrades I should know of?) Software version # 1.5 (does that help?)
* When I play the "Expert Hunts", no sound comes from the speakers (volume is up at #21 right now)

* This symbol ~ is right next to my menu choice of critter sounds, but I cannot tell if it's playing or not.

And yes, I do have hand/mouth calls all ready to rock. My wife is going crazy from the YouTube examples and my practicing process.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Barney

Hi Barney I just checked mine out and its older and still running software version 1.3. My remote usually takes 10 - 15 seconds depending upon distance the first time I set it out and then usually immediately afterwards. If you have loaded any new sounds, it can take up to 10 minutes to synchronize the remote and caller the first time after loading the new sounds.

At a 21 setting, you should have no issues hearing the sounds. I just tested mine at that volume with a crow call and it was very discernable.

When you hit play on a selected sound, it should post it on the bottom of the receiver with the amount of time left to play on it.

Primos has pretty good customer services as I contacted them last week for some parts for mine which have broken over the years from using it in severe cold. I would get a hold of them at service@primos.com or check out their website at primos.zendesk.com

Hope this helps - shoot me a PM if you need anything

Regards

Edit. I wrote Primos about a couple of parts I needed and I received them free of charge in the mail today from Bushnell Canada. I think this is pretty good customer service.

Well, I've given things a week and tried more attempts to get things playing through the speakers with no luck. I've downloaded their Product Repair Request Form from the Primos website so let's see what happens after I send this baby into their Vaughn Repair shop here in Ontario.

Will keep you all posted!

Cheers,
Barney

Okay, after a month, I finally received the unit back and it was replaced "Warranty" styles and that's a great thing. :)

I got it back via UPS today and I was super surprised to see a NIB unit all ready for unpacking and battery loading and subsequent testing! Hey, it all works out!

Nice fellows at Bushnell Repair Depot in Vaughn , ON sorted us out right away! Life does not get better! Since I had the unit since Dec 2013 and it states that a ONE Year Warranty is all it comes with. I lucked out. YMMV!

Cheers all!

Barney
