This summer I noticed that Princess Auto had British style (to my eye, not all that up to date), nock down targets for field shooting in what seemed like serious quality, for the low price of 14.95. I own one such target that was made out of maybe 20 gauge sheet metal, and was massive crap compared to these targets. On most recent trip the price was down to 7.95

These were 20 bucks:

This is the kind for 7.95, two styles were marked down, they have the pig, crow, and rabbit in total, can't remember which were marked down.

The only downside I can see is for full power air rifles, you need to be as far out as 35 yds to save the targets, and the smallest loup is about 1/2" My offhand isn't that great, even on the 1.25 loup it is no guarantee with a springer. I guess for rested shooting it would make sense, though I hardly need to practice that on steel.

Don't get the first one listed. It is not a knock down, only the yellow bit in the hit zone goes down then you have to shoot the lower paddle to reset it. I bought one from SSSO and it was not very good. Firstly the reset paddle is small to hit and secondly you have to hit it "just so" for it to work. Should have bought the other one, proper knock down and pull string to reset. Maybe that one is better.
As for the grade of steel, plenty heavy enough for high power rifles.
