Prism optic reducing/zooming out image?

Hey folks,

This is my first prism optic, had red dots and scopes obviously but this is a first.

The optic is a PA SLx 1x micro prism 9mm Gemini.

When I came to zero it today, I realized the thing reduced the target rather than keeping it true to size or zooming it a bit.

Is this normal for prism optics? Is this something lower priced optics do? Is my unit defect?

EDIT: Fixed!

I didn't know the diopter also played on image size, always thought it was just the get the most crisp image possible. I did try and adjust it at the range but it has way more adjustment than I thought. Backed it up all the way, got a true 1:1 image but blurry. Went back in slowly and now have a clear/crisp image/reticule and what appears to be 1:1 or damn close to it.

Did you set the diopter for your eye?

Turned a few times with no difference that I could see. I probably didn't go all the way in the adjustments. I'll give it a try, but I didn't think it would make a difference for size image..? Isn't it just to get the proper crisp/clear image to your eye?

One mark of a premium 1x scope is that when you run both eyes open, both eyes will see the same colors and same sizes and both in focus.

Back in the glory days of 3 gun when I was using lots of 1x optics, both LPVO and 1x prisms, there was definitely benefits in this metric with the expensive scopes. The Razor Gen2 1-6x24, and Swaro 1-6x24 were excellent at 1x. The cheaper scopes, including the $300 Vortex 1x prism, not so much.
