Prism scope - unpowered

Hello,

Looking to get an optic for a Citadel Levtec 92 (.357). I don't need magnification, but I would love a sight. I have done a bit of reading and it's still unclear to me. Are there any red dot / reflex sights that require no power (solar and/or motion to generate illumination included)?

Thanks very much

Many red dots and reflex style sights today have a battery life measured in years when left on..... I have not heard of any solar re-charging but the solar cells mean that when you are using the dot in daylight the many years of battery will be extended even further as the sight is using the solar generation instead of the battery.

Primary Arm's latest generation of micro prism sight (GLX) looks pretty sweet, it's an update on an already pretty nice micro prism and it looks like they have improved the optics a bit and also somehow extended the eye relief so that the sight does not need to be as close to the eye as past prisms.

I have not heard any news about the latest version coming north but I assume it won't be much longer......

I saw some of these 'fiber-op' sights on EE last year, and your thread reminded me. They're on a USA site but if you search the inet you can find them, just search the quote below. They looked interesting but I'm not really into that sort of optic . . . so far. Just wanted to mention this option.

See All are not that great IMHO, I basically call them visionally impaired iron sights.

Another bonus of the etched reticle prism scopes is they don't flare out like a red dot if you happen to have astigmatism.... on a 1892 clone you will need something that mounts forward of the receiver though which means if you want a prism you will have to wait for the GLX from Primary Arms to show up with it's extended eye relief or settle for a micro red dot with a long battery life and or solar boost.

I wasn't sure, but I just looked to see if the Citadel Levtac 92 came with a rail...... :)
How do you like the Peep sights? I'm a fan of peeps but prefer a fibre optic front sight with a small bead.

Trijicon makes loads of options that use excellent fiber optic collectors to illuminate the reticle for daytime and low light conditions (and tritium for full-dark), but they're spendy.

I wouldn't be afraid to use any of the current crop of mid-market battery powered red dots. 50000 hours is a long time.

When I last looked hard at it, solar was still mostly a gimmick at this point.

As Can-down says, prism optics, even 1x, will have eye relief issues for the forward mount that comes on your rifle.

If the optic is to be forward mounted, I would go with the SeeAll. I have them on a bunch of my guns and really like them.

As mentioned Primary Arms and Vector make some great prism sights, but the eye relief is limited. The Vector Paragon has the longest I’ve come across yet though.

I basically never use the illumination on my prism sights, unless the lighting situation calls for it, I prefer the black etched reticle.

Another option would be a LPVO with a true 1x, not sure what the scout scope market offers for forward mounting though.
