Hello all,

Both of the private sales I have been involved in as a buyer seem to follow a different process than sales from gun shops. For gun shop sales, BC CFO agent simply approved the transfer when I called in and confirmed my address, date of birth etc. For private sales, BC CFO agent says that there is another CFO department that I have to get in touch with other than at the 9530 number in order to complete the transfer. Private sellers have both provided me with a transfer reference number so it seems they have completed things on their end. The agent mentioned something about confirming identity. They put me through to that other department and then the line promptly cut. Has anyone else experienced this for private or other sales? Thanks.

Yeah. I did my first private buy a little recently too and was also surprised it was different then retail transfers. It is normal that you have to call in and confirm the transfer. All they did was ask for was the reference number, all my information and the purpose for buying the handgun. This did not complete the transfer though unfortunately.

yea its a lot less hassle if you purchase from a shop, they start the process, and you just have to wait for an email from cfo easy peasy
