Anyone use these for hunting in the 8x57?

I have a bunch and there are some promising results. Might try to use them for target practice and sub in woodleighs ( if I can find any) or Norma Vulkan for deer, bear and elk, but I figured it was worth an ask

Gun is an 8x57jrs with tilting block action and 20 inch barrel ( capable of being loaded to full pressure but potential velocity loss)

I've never found them to be consistently accurate in any 8mm rifles with a 323 bore.

I bought a bulk pack of 1000 from Mil Arm appx ten years ago. I shot just over a hundred of them and ended up selling them all a year later.

My best load was 53.0 grains of VVN160 over CCI200 primers under the 196 Privi Spire Point.

Velocities out of a 23 inch barrel was around 2400fps and pressures around 47000 psi. Not a hot load.

It was a standard load I've used in most of my 8mm sporters until recently and it always worked well with other bullets, such as Norma, Hornady, Woodleigh, Sierra and Speer, of similar form.

In all honesty, I haven't had much luck with Privi bullets, accuracy wise.

This is of course just IMHO.

I have a couple hundred and use them as practice bullets. Loaded with D4064 for about 2300 fps makes a nice low recoil option that i can shoot with out breaking the bank. My accuracy was about 1.5" with a scoped rifle. There's only one way to find out if it'll hold up and do well on game......take it out for spring bear and see how they do.

I had bought some a few years ago - and noticed they were labeled as .322" diameter. Found others labeled as .323" diameter. Not really sure why PPU did that, but something to watch for?? Maybe like bullets sold for 303 British - 0.3105", 0.311" and 0.312" ...

Might have to do it.

Loads approaching max with 3031 were between 1 and 1.5 inch with some having the first couple shots practically touching

I wasn’t able to get them to group better than 1.5 inch in that Zastava I sold you. I weighed bullets from that batch and they varied up to 4 grains. I was also having issues with the privi brass being different lengths out of the box which was annoying but easy to resolve, none of those issues with the ppu 8x57 JRS brass I have
