We're looking at hosting some Pro Am matches at my new club, and I just wanted to check if anybody here plays that game? It's like a steel knockdown challenge, but with a par time; only the number of knockdowns counts unless you shoot a tiebreaker? Any good introductory resources for the game would be much appreciated. Fun vids too :)

I've never used that before.
Thought I'd experiment.

Not much all steel shooting here as you know.
Too much shrouding and other CFO BS = not worth the time.

Yeah, I figured it would be a non-started in our parts and in Quebeckistan, but I hoped the CFO's drank less Kool Aid in other provinces, plus there are plenty of guys participating here who shoot south of the border.. Looks like nobody does Pro Am, though.. We'll figure something out and if any match footage survive, it'll go up here :)

I think the limiting factor for pro-am shooting is the massive amount of various types of steel needed to even host a half a$$ pro-am. Can't think of a single club in Canada that has 300-500 pieces of steel.

Good point.. I'm fortunate to be a member of a club that has lots of steel on hand... We even held an outlaw match last weekend - I just couldn't attend as we're still doing some move related work.. Heck, I would have had to shoot it with borrowed guns because I'm still in the process of importing my guns from Canada and getting my "el PALo"

Plates(Pro Am being the latest name for it) are shot at a lot of clubs. Years ago, most clubs starting IPSC/IDPA/Pins/plates had a guy who worked/owned a welding shop and made poppers etc. Lot of boiler plate used in those days.

Many years ago, our club did something similar (not par time, just total time to knock everything down). They included bowling pins as another target to knock down.
