Pro Mag Magazines for Pistols

I have yet a chance to shoot Pro Mag magazines for any of my pistols. I was just wondering what the experiences are with these mags. Are they worth getting? I mean a Desert Eagle 44 mag. factory magazine goes for about $65.00, where as a Pro Mag costs about $35. That's almost half the money! Are they worth getting?

A few years ago I purchased one from Milarm, for my P14 P.O.,
didn't fit right ( had to force it into the gun ,failed to feed the last rd.-- Wrote to milarm , got ignored, finally ended up fixing the thing myself by shaving & adjusting the feed lips to fit. Now I still have it butI make sure it's the first mag I drop in an IPSC match !
Luckily I only bought one! -- as the cliche' goes ya get what you pay for ! never again for me .
 
They are fine for stationary range use.
But if you will be doing IPSC /IDPA style runing and gunning droping mags
and etc they dont seem to stack up to oem mags You can also
look at the Mecgar about the same price range as the pro mag but better
mags IMO.

If I had a pistol and a factory mag cost close to $75-$100 I'd definitely buy Pro-Mag.

I had some for a storm before... they made a lot of noise (rattled) when loaded, but otherwise seemed to funtion fine.

Pro-Mags are generally regarded as cheap / inferior mags - see my first sentence :)
 
I have have had nothing but bad experiences buying anything but factory for most pistols that I have owned in my lifetime. The aftermarket mags were always cheaper but almost always had some sort of flaws like jamming, rubbing against the magazine release button or feed lips either too far apart or too tight. I'm a really cheap guy and love to save money. I've learned to spend the money and only buy factory magazines. The exceptions that I've found are Scherer mags for glocks and Mec-Gar for Berettas.

I have two for my Ruger KP89D and they have worked flawlessly for me... no issues at all. I had heard bad things about them, but I've never had a bad experience with them.

Even if it's not 100% reliable in your gun, if you're just plinking and not competing, it's fine!

They will melt if u use gun scrubber or brake cleaner on them...factory or mecgar mags will not ahve this problem!
 
melt? are they not steel?

i believe a fellow i know has them for his sig p220, and they were stamped steel, the don't feed very sell in his sig, nor do they drop free as factory ones would...
 
have both mecgar and promags for a Beretta 92/Storm. The mecgar are a little thicker gauge metal, and are quieter- the promags make a rattling sound when loaded to the 10 round max. so for th elittle extra i'd get the mecgars.

both of them work fine but I haven't tried them in IPsc yet.
 
Sometimes I do not get it.. Spend 1000 bucks on a decent gun and then you want to save 10 bucks on the mag..

At the range most problems are related to the mag.

Put the extra dollar down and go with what works. You will windup buying factory anyways :)
