Hello All,

Let me first start by saying I apologize for not having the correct terminology for most parts of this shotgun as I am still new to guns.

I recently bought a dominion arms grizzly mag fed shotgun, opened it up it was in pieces so I built the gun following some online guides everything seems to work great with the slide and everything BUT when I load some shells into the mag to test the feed path I can load the first shell and when I try to eject it it will not allow me to slide the pump back, releasing the shell and grabbing a new shell unless I hold the release.

My question is since I am doing this dry and not actually firing the shell is that a normal occurrence? I was under the impression that regardless of firing you should still be able to pump the slide and extract a shell and load a new one. Is this what normally happens with a grizzly or is something wrong?

If something is wrong does anyone happen to know how to fix this issue?

I would love to not have to take it to a gun smith and pay for something I may be able to adjust myself. I am hoping it may have been user error when putting it together.

Thank you everyone!!

If I am understanding you correctly, the gun will not allow you to rack the slide to eject the chambered shell if you have not fired the shell first. This is completely normal and the way the gun is supposed to function. Otherwise the gun would slam the bolt/forend backwards when you fired the gun. The slide is only unlocked after the trigger has been pulled unless you use the release. You can test this by dry firing the gun (although I wouldn't make this a habit, some people say dry firing is a big no-no).

Awesome thank you, that was originally my initial thought but after thinking of it for a few days it made me start to question and figured I would check, I assumed the back pressure would help to release so great to know thanks again. I can always count on this site for great info, even if its a dumb question better safe than sorry.

Your gun is fine your locking lug stays locked until you pull the trigger or use the action release/bolt release so dont worry.
