I bought a flat top Stag Arms upper for my Colt A2 lower. The DPMS offset pivot pin that I bought won't keep them aligned during re-assembly. I have to completely separate the 2 halves first and then join them in reverse order, i.e. starting with the take down pin to lock up the back and then install the offset pivot pin at the front. What am I doing wrong? What is the proper way to install the offset pin so it will always keep the upper and lower aligned? Please help.

One more thing ...

I should add that if I "slam" the upper down, it will close on the lower. It is only a problem if I try to be gentle and just push the upper into the lower, it won't close. With the old Colt A2 upper, I never have to use force.

upper /lower

I put a bushmaster flattop on to a colt sp-1 lower using a offset adapter pin from brownels it took a bit of fiddling at first i did`nt realize that it had two pieces the pin and the bushing that goes in a large hole upper to a small hole lower. I seperated them and put the lower and upper together then the back pin was pretty tight fit but when i took out the accu-wedge they went together no problem,i bought a new wedge and they go together fine ,got about 200rnds thru it now and everythings fine.
