Hey guys, so I picked up a railed dust cover, and after I changed the springs and (what I think is the right thing to do) set the set screws on the top and back so the bolt carrier moves freely, I noticed the bolt carrier, when in battery, has about 2 mm of play, where it appears there is no spring tension 2 mm from full battery. I can move the bolt carrier forward and rearward freely with no effort at all. The hammer still fires in that amount of play, but I'm pretty sure that I never had this play before. Any thoughts? Would like to get this figured out.

Tighten the side screws nice and good. If the bolt carrier seems to be stuck from moving in and out of battery with the railed dust cover tight then the charging handle just needs a bit of a sanding to get it to move freely on its own.
When I get new railed dust covers this always happens to me but I'll sand the charging handle a bit, lube it up and rack the slide dozens if times to free it up.

I have no problem working the slide, what I do have is play when the bolt carrier is in or near battery. if I shake the rifle the bolt carrier moves back and forth about 2mm in and out of battery. gun will still fire, but cant be safe or best case scenario not that accurate.

Yea, but it is caused by the setup with the new dust cover. It never had play when I had the stock dust cover on.
