hey guys,

i have a 10/22 and i recently mounted a scope on it. the problem is that when ever i shoot the darn thing the stock mounting rail always comes loose and i lose my accuracy and i then have to take the scope off and tighten the screws back up on the rail.

is the stock mounting rail the problem? would a weaver rail fix it?

A Weaver base is superior because it allows use of high power rings, rather than 3/8" tip-offs. Greater variety of rings, often better quality.
This has nothing to do with the screws coming loose, though. The Ruger receiver is non-ferrous alloy. Be careful not to overtighten the screws, the threads in the receiver can be stripped. If this happens, they can be rethreaded to a larger size.
Degrease the holes in the receiver and the screws and use a threadlocking product like Loctite. Use a medium strength version so that the screws can be removed without heat or brute force.

lock tight it is! thanks guys!

one more thing. is lock tight something i can get at home depot or is it a gunsmithing product?

Nut and fastener outlets like Brafaso have it, automotive supplies as well.
