so i went to the club tonite to shoot some trap, 1st stage, yell "pull"....CLICK !!....check out the shell...VERY slight strike on the primer....try anither shell...CLICK !!...WTF !!, tear it down..firing pin looks good, nothing obvious. reassemble..tried 5 or 6 different shells, one went bang, but the rest just a very tiny imprint on the primer !, any thoughts ?, everything visually looks good !

shot 3 rounds last week, and the gun funcioned flawlessly !

checked that too, it seems like it is !...there is a guy at the club that i know (that is an avid ; and real good trap shooter), that has shot 10's of thousands of rounds out of his 1100, and after talking to him and doing some prerliminary checks, said he would take it home with him to do a TOTAL tear down to see what he could find. (he's more experienced than myself with what to look for when it comes to problems like these !!...freak'in guy would make a good g-smith!!), so we'll se what he comes up with

That was the problem with the Federals. Not every box was bad.

I don't use Federal Primers myself. Instead of being flat across the surface they are rounded. I prefer either Chedites or Winchesters. They work better in my gun.

How much is a hammer spring for an 1100?

Same thing hsppened to my 1100 after a lot of shooting .It was just dirt in the firing pin.
I think if you take the pin and spring out and clean it up your problem will go away.

All top guns seem to show light primer strikes. I vote for waiting to see what the 1100 expert has to say. Hey! there is a clue! It's an 1100:D

anyways, i seem to hve solved the problem (or rather another shooting buddy did for me !), as previously stated, a buddy from the club took the old 1100 home with him, and did a TOTAL tear down (sstock off, and what not), found the spring and stuff in the stock was DIRTY!!, he cleaned it all up for me, and it functioned AWESOME for the 4 rounds i fired the other night....THE ACTION HAS NEVER BEEN FASTER SINCE I'VE OWNED IT !!, but it seems thats all it was. i tried some of the previously "shot" (light imprinted shells that didn't fire), and they all went bang !!!...thanks a ton Brad (if your reading this !

Had the same problem with an 11-87..took everything abart, cleaned..still wouldnt fire..then noticed that the rubber "O" ring was missing..it had slipped off inside the barrel hanger, and when it was fastened on, the cap tightened, the barrel would seat, there was enough room so that the firing pin wouldnt hit-reach the primer..
