I'm having problems keeping this paddle holster on my belt if I draw roughly. It's an ITAC for P226 http://itacdefense.com/ShowProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=48&CategoryID=307 .. the instructions are unclear but I've tried the following:
1) Paddle inside the waist band
2) Paddle inside the belt

The paddle has these 'horns' that are there to catch on something (while the rest of the assembly rides either on top of your waist band or on top of your belt with obviously the holster on the outside).

This photo shows one of the two horns that I suppose are supposed to hook under the waistband or belt.

But the space between top of the paddle and the horns is too high for normal belts so if it is on the belt, there is half an inch between belt and the horns. It will shift and not be firmly set at all. And if it is loose it could also come off. It's nearly 2.5" space above the horns. That's higher than any of my belts.

If it is inside the waist band, then it seems to catch on nothing. So if you try to draw and somehow miss the retention button, you end up pulling the whole holster and gun right off. I suppose practice makes perfect but I can imagine in a stress situation (competition or otherwise), not getting the button and pulling everything out. You would look stupid (and possibly be stupid dead).

There does not seem to be any adjustment to tighten the space or to adjust the spacing of the 'horns'. The only adjustment with alan key is to change the angle of the holster (which I like).

Anyone have one of these and set me straight? Otherwise, I've already asked for an RMA from one of our fine vendors. I don't want to return something having missed something obvious.

Try tightening your belt a bit more.

It should be a little bit uncomfortable to carry a holstered gun on your belt.

A loose belt will ruin your draw, regardless of holster type.

Okay I can see that tightening it has made some difference.

I'm also evaluating a Blackhawk Serpa and between the two, I think the ITAC is a smoother draw, if only it could stay on the belt!

I did a practice session with the ITAC and I decided to stick with it. I thought the retention release button on the ITAC was way more prominent and easier to find than with the Blackhawk Serpa. I can see how some people believe the Serpa could have safety issues because it is easy to slide down with the finger on it into the trigger well.

Also consider getting a heavier belt.

Get the widest and thickest belt that you can find.
Something that will barely fit through the belt-loops on your pants.

Firstly, the belt as mentioned earlier is key.

Secondly, if the holster has a suede type lining, take some silicon lubricant, and spray the inside of the holster and let it sit overnight, a second application may be required. You can also wrap the gun in a few layers of wax paper and jam it in the holster and let it sit for a few days.

First question, do you have a real gun belt!!!

Thats most peoples problem. I got one of those double hole army ones from the surplus store and it works fine. A generic belt will not work. I also did my black badge with that same holster. It worked great but i found it worked better with the hole flap inside the waistband, not just tucked under the belt.
