problem with my butler creek mag

I assume that you mean that you have a mag with 25 rounds loaded & when you shoot, the first 5 rounds are a problem & the last 20 rounds feed okay.
If so, in my opinion, that sounds like an issue with the spring in the mag as it would change pressure as the number of rounds goes down.
Mine work fine . Can you try yours in another gun ? Can you try another mag in your gun ?

If your gun works fine with the factory mag then I would try & get the Butler Creek one replaced under warranty as it sounds to be defective.
 
i had problems when i just got my 10/22. With the bolt closed the mag would go in very difficult. I'd have to jam it in. I would have issues the first couple rounds and sometimes the whole mag would jam like crazy.

Then i started loading a mag with the bolt open first(went in very smooth) and released the bolt to load a round. Doing it this way freed me of FTF and jams.

Maybe it's a 10/22 thing? No clue. But the mags just wouldn’t seat properly with the bolt closed.
 
Why wouldn't you be able to bring it back to the place you purchased it from? Was it a private sale, or through the net?
 
lovetts changed hands, wow that guy has had it since like the dawn of time.
althoue it would explane the huge sale not to long ago.
