Problem with my M14

Suplusrifle .com has a thread on cosmolene removal that suggests parts, not just the stock in the dishwasher.

They recommend taking the stock out and air drying it naturally, not using the dry cycle, but for parts and barrelled actions, putting it in the Hot/pot scour cycle, taking the parts out and using WD-40 or some other water displacing oil, or trusting that the dry cycle will be hot enough to evaporate the water before the rust starts.

They go on to say that you should run a full cycle with the dishwasher empty afterwards, before using it for dishes.

A lot of people disagree, and feel that putting melted cosmo through the dishwasher is a bad idea, especially if you have one with a filter of some kind. Others object to the environmental aspects, but if you wash your stock or parts, the waste goes down the same drain eventually anyway.

Anyway, just posted to say putting the whole thing in the dishwasher is not so crazy.

I sawed my chu wood stock in half getting it apart. Of course I had a fiberglass USGI one ready to go.

Ok it might have been a little malice towards the crappy stock too...
