Problem with my new Elite 226 .40sw (Pics up on pg2)

Took my new Sig to the range today and could not get the slide to lock open on an empty mag, even racking the slide with an empty mag will not do it. The arm of the slide lock lever seems to almost slide past the tab on the mag. Also the mags seemed to stick in the gun and had to be pulled out.

When I got home I compared it to my plain 226 the slide lock looks different (doesn't stick out as far on the Elite) and moves differently as well. Also the same mags will also pop right out and lock the slide of my regular 226. Are there wrong parts in new gun or am I missing something?

I have sent an email to Questar and tried calling the Sig # that came in the box but I haven't heard back yet.

Any one have any ideas.

Did you try more than one mag? Does the slide lock lever have the same feel as your other 226. When you bring the slide back by hand, can you push the lever up to lock the slide back?

If the mags arnt falling free try cleaning the mag well. Also check the grip screws, if they are too tight or too long they will interfer with the mags.

If this is a new pistol, a good cleaning may help.

-Tried 4 mags, all work in the reg but not the elite.

-It has a different feel then my old one.

-You can push it up to engage it.

- Cleaned a few times as I thought that was the problem but I think the mags are sticking because the slide lock arm slides past the tab on the mag and then binds as you try to pull it out.
 
Ok, if it feels different then how...it has a spring to help engage it! Does it feel like it has any spring tension.

Not sure if I follow on the mag sticking...Ill have to look at one of mine but I cant visulize what your saying! Try to turn the grip screws out just a touch to see if that helps.
 
Try something:

If you remove the slide of your P226, when you insert an empty mag, it should lift the slide stop lever. If it doesn't, there is your problem.

Also did you "de-gunk" your brand new pistol/mags? I don't know what kind of oil sig uses, but it's kinda sticky; clean the pistol's mag funnel and mag bodies. Should help them to drop free.

As RT said, it is also possible that the grip screws are too long and are obstructing. BTW, don't use the same screws for wood grip and plastic grip, they have a different lenght and might prevent your mags to drop freely. You should remove the grips and take a look at where it sticks and if it continues to stick with the grips off.

It doesn't lift because they don't aline for some reason.

Gun is degunked (almost as bad as a Nirinco)

Grip screws aren't the prob.

Sell your POS american made SIG and get a nice german made SIG from wolverine. You'll pay a bit more but it'll make up for it in accuracy and quality control.

If grip screws arnt the problem then take it one step further and take the grips right off. If the mags are hanging up in the frame, and the mags you are using work fine in another pistol there must be somthing in the frame thats interfering. Take the grips of and insert the mag and remove it while watching closly, as well compare your 2 sigs to see where the difference is.

You do have to pull the mag all the way out by hand right?

Do I have a 229 slide lock or something?
 
It looks like the little "arm" of the slide stop is too short to be lifted by the mag follower. Really odd.

I'm sure Questar will fix it! They usually stand behind their products.
 
I heard back from Questar, apparently there were some models that had a high capacity slide lock used when they shouldn't have and they don't work with the 10 round mags. Mine shouldn't have it but it sounds like it does so it will be going back.
