Problem with my Norinco 1911A1 clone?

I'll look into the plunger as a possibility. I have to point out that the slide locks well enough without a mag when I use the stop. As well, after removing the slide (per instructions here) The mags had no problem lifting the stop up in place.

I still think it couldn't hurt to buy a few after market mags too. :)

My norinco did the same thing when i first bought it. I was using crappy mags and thought that was the problem so bought some wilson mags... still had the same problem, replaced the slide release and no more issues.

Do I still need to consider bending up the follower? They seem to function when the slide is off.

I would consider tweaking the tab gently.

Unless of course you've already tried this.....

My friend's Norc 1911 had the same issue when he first got it.
4 mags in total and he got it from Marstar I think.

the issue was that there were gunks/cosmoline in the mags' lips pushing the follower just a bit lower then it should be. *cough cough* if you have not properly clean your firearm, this kind of thing happen.

After "I" took it and cleaned the pistol for him, all mags feed find and the slide locks back after last round.

schick.......here's an article that shows some really good points on the 1911 and it "feeding" abilities from various mags.
Well worth a read ;)

Nice article. Thanks.

I have considered tweaking the tabs, but still wonder why they work properly at a slower slide return speed.

No gunk, no cosmo. This pistol has been completely stripped, blasted, and refinished.

Two of the parts I always replace are slide stop (usually EGW) and plunger assembly (Wilson stainless) - I prefer a nice round 0.200 pin to some of the 0.196-0.197 norc slide stops w/ machine marks. I also always replace the other critical things that are supposed to be round like the trigger and hammer pins.
