Last week I ordered a couple of 91/30 snipers for a buddy and myself. Of course the one I kept has a problem...
To make a long story short, the opening cut into the stock for the scope mount is not deep enough or maybe long enough.
When I took it apart for cleaning, I noticed the screws holding the magazine were loose. When I put it together and tightened the screws down the trigger will not work and the stock is flexing.
I removed the scope mount and put it all together and it functions fine. But I need to somehow redo this opening to make it deeper and/or larger. Does anyone have any experience on how to do this? I am a mechanic but I am not a carpenter. From the looks of it some kind of power tools were used.
I guess I could ask if I could send it back to where I got it from and see if they could redo this?

It is simple to do, use a metal file. My was the same took me 20 min to get it fine tuned

I have lots of files, but I have never used them on wood. If its simple to do then tomorrow I will give that a try. I have to lower that one notch as well.
I guess I'm not the only one if you have had this problem as well. Thanks for the tip!

They put this repro snipers quite fast. Probably boss turned his head and Ivan rush it to have his tea brake faster. What really counts is the bore condition. Metal files are good for slow precise work on wood, wood rasps are good but not precise enough
