Hello,

I have a problem opening the cylinder on my 686. I fully push the thumb piece forward but the cylinder does not want to swing out freely. I comes out eventually. I checked the extracter rod and it's fine. Any ideas?

It seems that the ejector rod is backing out frequently. I've had to tighten it quit a bit. Does that represent a larger problem? Can I apply a product like locktite to keep it from comming out so much?

Usually good and tight works. If you do use loctite make sure it is the removeable type and then only a little on the thread.

Don't use LocTite, it will cause problems later on.

If you haven't got the proper tools, remove the cylinder from the gun (leave the crane in place), insert 6 empty brass in the cylinder, take a brass shim and wrap it around the end of the extractor rod, clamp it in a vise (at the shim) and tighten.
