here is the "pin"

hello. The firing pin (is that what it is called?) fell out of my savage o/u 20gauge/.22.

Does anyone know of a reliable and good gunsmith in lower mainland bc? I asked at a local gunshop and they pretty much said good luck finding a gunsmith.

Can not help with the gun from out here, but I am on slow
speed dial up an the pic. are too big,
I would deal with another gun shop if that is his best answer.
fax or email Gunner at armco ( look up) see what he says.

Well don't lose it as it is your shotgun firing pin and it doesn't appear to be broken. If you look on the side of the reciever you will see two screws one for each barrel. These hold the pins in place.See if the lower one is missing or just came lose freeing the pin.If you don't have the correct screwdriver don't improvise these are a ##### to find new or used.Look at the pin and you will see one side is flattened. This side needs to face the screw on the rt side of the reciever.Back off the screw insert flat side facing and snug it up.Harold

Thanks Harold, just got home from work and took a look. The screw is still in there and I guess it was loose and let the pin out. So I put the pin in and used a small flat screwdriver to put it back in and snug it up. Is there suppose to be a spring or something in there? The .22 pin can be pushed from the hammer side and the pin comes out the barrel side and then "springs" back into place. I put the shotgun pin back in and i can push it so the pin comes out the barrel side but does not "spring" back into position. There is a piece on the barrel that seems to push the pin back in when the barrels are closed into the receiver in firing position. Is this all there is?

Thanks again.

According to the schematics only the rifle pin has a spring. The shotgun pin should move out of the way when the action is closed.Glad I could be of some help.I have a older .22/.410 with a ivory bead and perfectly regulated at the factory most new ones arn't even close!I can break claybirds with this with boring regularity.A .410 brush is too tight for the bore but it throws baseball size patterns at 50ft perfect for decapping grouse! Try shooting you gun and let us know if it works........Harold *if it turns out it needs a spring it is easy to install.Remove screw then pin add spring and reassemble I'll talk to our local smith to check
