I was at the range Sat. and really noticed that there was a huge amount of smoke coming from the gun . These are the same rounds i usually use and the only thing different was the use of liquid alox as a lube . I have used it once before but don't remember the clouds of smoke. The powder i a couple years old but has been stored properly and I am about 1/3 way through the can .
Is there a reason for this to happen so suddenly ?

Is there something i can do the check the powder's condition?

Not doubting you RePete but , are you sure ? This is the second or third time I have used this reload but never did I have this much smoke before!!!

Thanks

W-231+cast=SMOKE! Sometime humidity will affect the amount of smoke visible. If you used liquid alox you likely got more of it on the base of the bullet which will contribute to the smoking.

I was going to mention humidity too, but also high outdoor temps, the Alox softens and melts quicker.

RePete.
