Problems reassembling trigger group m305

Hey Guys,

I decided to take apart my newly bought "used" m305 trigger group as I was having problems with the safety. During the reassembly phase I am not able to fully get the trigger group back together.

First off the safety spring will not stay seated in the trigger housing (it tends to fly off for no apparent reason), not sure if I need a new safety spring.

The previous owner apparently installed the safety spring the wrong way when they used the trigger housing.

My other problem occurs when i try to install the trigger pin. When the trigger pin is going to be installed I am having alot of problems alighning everything up. Any tips??? I have watched the video for dissassembly/reassembly, but those two parts are still giving me problems.

I ran into some trouble with this and found that getting another person to hold the trigger group while I put the pin in was the best option because it allowed for a little more wiggle room.

It seems to me I also locked the hammer back once when the firing pin was only partially inserted, and this made the pin much, much harder to get in.

In the end it was determination that prevailed.

I am by no means a gun smith, but I hope this helps.
 
You can modify a M1 garand Clip ejector into a M14 safety spring by trimming it a bit by using your old spring as a guide.
I find a pair of end nippers or diagonal cutting pliers works well for this . Beware of flying parts when you make the cut !
 
Thanks guys for the replies. However I am still having problems putting back that final pin. Everytime I am able to put the pin in it seems to be going in on an angle and will not go completely through making it flush. I have dissassembled and attempted reassembly for about a week with still no success. I have new springs on the way from Brownells (Hammer spring included) and that will hopefully fix the problem, but does anyone have any other ideas?

Use an appropriate sized pin punch or nail set, heck, even an allen key will work...insert through all the holes and get everything aligned. Then back it out a little to start the pin. Keep backing it out as you continue to push the pin through from the other side. The trick is to never have a gap between the punch and the pin. Might take a few tries, but you'll eventually get it. Or you could just go to Hungry's place...just be prepared to be laughed at. :)
