I was wondering if anybody has had problems hitting the target with Barnes 50gr varmint grenades. I used Reloader 7 powder in them. I seem to have a good group with 40gr nosler ballistic tip but just not with the barnes i have about a 6-7 inch group, Somebody told me that the barnes varmint grenades explode beofre they hit the taget is that true. has anyone had this problem before. let me know if you can help

What caliber of gun are you shooting and what is you rifling twist? The .224 50 gr varmint grenades are recommended only for 1 in 10 twist barrels or faster. Most 22-250's and 220 swift's have a 1 in 14 twist and won't stabilize this bullet. If you want to shoot a varmint grenade in a slow twist barrel you will have to go with the 36 grainer.
Did you type that in right? I would have thought that these 50 grain bullets would be suitable for 1 in 10 or slower, such as 1 in 14. A faster twist is more likely to cause the bullet to self-destruct, and I would have thought it has nothing to do with stability.
Says right on the box I have"reccomended for 10" twist or faster". They shot fine in my 9" CZ. what your describing sounds like 75gr Amax in my rifle, all over the damn place.
