I have a S&W 639 - two tone (stainless frame, Blued steel slide) that has been converted to single action only by Novak at some time in the past. On a recent trip to the range it developed a major hiccup. At first the hammer would fail to #### and would follow the slide home about once every magazine full. This has now gotten worse to the point where it happens 4 times out of 5. In fact if you aggressively rack the slide and let it slam home the hammer will follow it almost every time. If you ease the slide home the hammer stays cocked. I have tried cleaning it carefully with no joy.

Obviously it need to visit a good pistol-smith. Whom do you reccomend in Western Canada for this kind of work? Is Gunnar at Armco the best? I have heard that his work is excellent but his service very slow?

Any suggestions, along with contact info appreciated.

You need a new hammer/sear combo, you're slipping off the notch - dang too bad but trigger jobs just wear out sometimes. If you can get the parts you can swap them out yourself.
