Problems with S&W 22a

Hi all, i bought a S&W 22A a few weeks back, and i need some opinions.
I went to CDN tire, bought 3 different types of .22 ammo, and really am not impressed that my new .22 is picky about ammo. I bought some American Eagle, which seems the best, only about 1 in 20 FTF, winchester wildcats, about 1or2 in 10 FTF, and i forget the other box of bullets which about 1or2 FTF in 10.
I also get about 1 in 50 that fail to extract.
My feeling is that i shouldn't get more than 1 in 100 FTF's. My old .22 Cooey rifle doesn't care what i feed it, it will shoot it. And it's like 40yrs old. How can a brand new pistol fail that much?
When i mentioned it at the gun shop counter where i purchased it, they told me to use only coated bullets.
I feel that i should be able to just load it up and shoot!!!!
 
Perhaps try some of the federal bulk pack stuff. It's 36 grn copper washed hollow point stuff and seems to work fine in my three .22's. Perhaps it is that it's new and still breaking in, or maybe it's just plain ole picky. I did a quick search on rimfirecentral to see what I could find, hope it helps.

Well, i took it out again today, 2new boxes of ammo, loaded it up with cci stingers. 1st shot fired, 2nd failed. switched mags, first shot fired, second failed. Looked close at the FTF casings, barely a mark on them. Took it to the front, took it apart, cleaned it, tried again, same thing. Then the very helpful person working at the shop/range noticed the slide not going all the way forward, so the pin isn't striking enough. But on the first round, manually releasing the slide, it always goes forward enough.Took home, clean, lubed, and will take it back to the range tomorrow for another test. If still unreliable, it will have to go back to s&w for a bit........

Update:
Took it for the 5th time to the range, it now has between 7-800 rds through it, so it's not break-in. Very well cleaned, and very lightly lubricated every time. Every time, i put around 150 frustrating rounds through it, and still around 1-10FTF's.
Now it has to go back to S&W for repair.......
Grrrrrrrrrrr...........
So in the mean time i picked up a used Walther P22 for the kids to use, and it works really sweet!! Put about 100-150 rds through it today, no FTF's no failure to ejects, the only slight annoyance is a few of the empty casings hitting me in the forehead!! But i think if i search a bit, there is a quick fix for that......
