I have a lovely new 16 Citori, that I had a part and back together a couple of times, now this last time the latch on the Fore stock will not click back into place.
Anyone have a fix for my issue please/....FS
I have seen this happen a couple of times, when the wood swelled or dried . Removing a bit of finish on the wood fixed the problem, but be careful not to remove too much.
Some times you can squeeze the fore arm the barrels together and then seat the latch with your thumb . barring that you will need to establish where the barrels are making contact with the inletting of the fore arm . then work from there .
I had this happen on an o/u a while ago and what I noticed was that the forearm walnut swelled a bit and was to tight on the barrels for the latch to snap into place. I took one of those sponge sanding pads and squeezed it into the forearm opening and ran it through up and down until the forearm channel was opened up just slightly to fit back onto the barrel assembly. Once I got a proper fit, I gave the inside of the forearm a few coats of BLO and all was good as new.
got it back on with help from a buddy, who noticed the inside side mechanism were very tight to try and move and so with a spray of break Free lubed them nicely and now the fore stock is back in place. Probably would hurt to shoot some ammo in it soon.. FS
