Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had a simple explanation of the process of buying or selling a restricted gun here on the EE. How long it takes, what must all be done, who needs to be called, and what type of ATT's can be issued?

Thanks!
- Mat

Hey Mat,

I'm in the process of selling my first restricted. So others may have a better, more streamlined process. But mine consisted of the following:

The buyer and seller agree on a price and exchange information.
Buyer sends money (EMT in my case). Once payment has been received, the seller(me) contacts the Canadian Firearms Center at 1-800-731-4000 and initiates the transfer of the firearm quoting the buyers information. (pal num, full name, make/model serial num etc)
The Canadian Firearms Center will give a reference number which the seller provides to the buyer and will have to quote when they contact the Canadian Firearms Center to approve the transfer of the firearm.

Once the transfer has been approved, the seller(me) will ship the firearm.

In regards to ATTs, I will need to get one to transport to the Post Office for shipping. No idea how long the entire process will take as we're waiting for the transfer to complete (we're both from ontario). Phone calls to CFC (initiate and confirm transfer) were made today.

Hope this helps.
