Production Minor PF load with .40cal S&W

My Speer Manual #13 lists a minimum .40cal load using Titegroup under a 180gr FMJ bullet of 4.0gr which is supposed to give a velocity of 793 fps. I get 850 fps out of my Vertec with this load. Has anyone reduced this load below 4.0g of Titegroup without any safety/functioning problems to get closer to 800 fps?
 
3.7 grains of Titegroup behind a 180 grain Montana Gold will still function in my Edge, but 3.5 grains results in a moderate rate (about 5%) of failure to cycle.
 
3.5 grains of tightgroup with a 180 grain cmj is working in my XD-40. I don't know the velocity however.

I am curious about this load and would like to try it. What's the OAL for the 3.5 grain?
I am assuming you are using recoil master in your Edge. How heavy is your recoil spring AZone? Would like to try 3.5 grains in my Edge too. Thanks
 
We (Team Darkside) use 3.4 grains of Titegroup for 180 grain Montana's and 2.9 grains of Titegroup for 200 grain Montana's in our Glocks... They run flawlessly with these loads.

C.O.L. = 1.125" - 1.130" with a light crimp.

These loads give a power factor of 130 - 135 depending on barrel tightness and jacket hardness... They also give a good margin for cold days...

OAL was 1.135", primer was WSP - The pistol has a Recoil Master as supplied by STI (not sure how many pounds it is, but it doesn't feel particularly heavy). With 3.7 grains, function was fine. Seems like it just needed a bit more "gas" to make it work consistently.

I will try this formula with a bit of a tighter crimp and see how it goes.
