Thinking about getting one for my birthday. It will just be for .223 to pump out rounds for competing.

Don't want to break the bank, but want something that's gonna work decent, and will be faster than my turret to load up several thousand rounds.

Suggestions?

someone is selling a loadmaster with 223 dies in EE right now
it will need some work to get it run smoothly but after that it is a nice press
(i use one for 9mm)

The Hornady LNL AP is a nice press but I would consider Dillon dies since they make carbide dies for 223.

You still need lube with the dillon carbide rifle dies. the only advantages are that they'll last longer (something like 5 million rounds instead of 1 million) and no squeak.

Yes - and on top of that, you can use Dillon dies in any other press, so if you really want the carbide dies, no need to stick to a Dillon press.

My point is that they really are not as expensive as some of the AP lovers:p would have people believe.

Well to compare Dillon products you really need to look at the 650 to get close.

One important point is the 550 only has 4 stations while the AP has 5......

The AP auto indexes.........the 550 is manual. You need the 650 to get auto.

That said.............the average shooter would be very happy with a 550.

I am just HAPPIER with my AP....

I am EXTATIC as of last night when I installed my new Pistol powder turret with quick change inserts.

I can now change calibers from 9mm to .40 in about 2 minutes including shell plate and powder charge. No fiddling what so ever on set up (although it will be prudent to check the first few rounds after a change over.

Oh I forgot to add.......

With Hornady's "get loaded program" your press can cost you about $20 net.

In your case loading .223 it is not as great a deal but do do get $179 worth of bullets FREE when you buy.

I opted for 1000 rounds of 6,5x55 as it is one of the calibers I shoot and it is also one of the more expensive ones.

My deal worked out as..

Press $349.99
Shipping FREE (the supplier screwed the pooch so they shipped for free. But you should expect $20 or so.

Bullets $318.00 for free.

So as you can see my press cost me about $30 net.........

Not a bad deal if you ask me........not bad at all.

but isn't the get loaded for the states only?
how do u get it done in canada? (aka who in the state would help u process it?)
thanks
