Interesting that I have been hanging onto a couple for the last few years because they were exceptionally nice but now with all this garbage about banning HG's I don't see many selling. From the guys who use this section of Gunnutz.....is this reality? Dave

They are worth more than nothing but it certainly hasn't helped their value. A good gun will always find a buyer - something like a 4" 625 Smith, for example. A so-so .32 Iver Johnson can be just about impossible to give away. At least a 12(6) can be taken to the range, unlike all the other 12s. There are quite a number of folks with 12(6) on their PALs. In time, of course, this pool of potential buyers will diminish until the Gov't achieves its objective.

Modern prohibs in common calibres are getting hard to find in good condition.

When the 12(?) thing came in people were giving them away, but the prices are going up for quality stuff.

What do you have?:D

I bought a Firestar M45(3.5" 12(6)) on Friday from a dealer $75.00. The 12(6) are alot cheaper these days....I pick up 2 or 3 a month

For now anyway....   ...........they have effectively eliminated the ATT's for all other 12(X) classes so the prohibited handguns are sure to follow............

They keep picking away at us, one piece at a time......

In the last 30 days i picked up the following 12(6)'s.

Luger
Detonics Mk. 6
Samuelson .32
Iver Johnon TP22
Firestar M45

The CPC will not do this while in power.

If the Libs win the next election, they undoubtedly will ban handguns. ALL handguns. Not just 12(6)'s.

All the other 12s could only be transported to a range under authority of a one time use Special Authority to Possess, SAP, not an Authorization to Transport, ATT. The rules got changed so SAPs could no longer be issued. At present, ATTs automatically provide for transport of all restricted firearms and prohibited handguns. Obviously, policies can change. If the Liberals form a government, any discussion of ATTs would be academic, there would be no need for one.

We should push the Conservatives to abolish the 12(6) classification... repeal C-68.

This would presuppose that we are something other than a nuisance to the Conservatives. Like any politicians, they will watch the poles, claim they don't, and if the Canadian public indicates it would support a handgun ban it could happen.

The Harper Government has made no promise to us concerning handguns, only that they would abolish the long gun registry. Many of us assume they are on line with dismantling C-68, but I have seen no indication that this might happen. For us to prevail, there must be a change in the Liberal mindset of many voting Canadians who believe that the lack of a gun culture is how they identify themselves as Canadians. These folks need to understand that there is a robust healthy gun culture in Canada, and that a gun culture is important to the fabric of Canadian society.

This forum has proven on a number of occasions that the Canadian Gun Community does not speak with a unified voice. Many of us do not agree that ordinary citizens should be issued ATC's, never mind CCW's. If we cannot reach a consensus on matters as basic as this, how can we expect to be supported by the voting public, who see no advantage to living in an armed society?

Very well put, Sir. :)

Nope, they are just as valuable to some of us as ever...perhaps more so. As another CGNut alluded to above, the "fixed" number of these guns means that they are all becoming more and more used (and in some cases abused) such that nice specimens are becoming more rare all the time. At least, that's my read on things. :)

I'd be soooo happy if they did away with the Prohibited class, I really don't see the point with having it...my barrels now are only 1/8" away.....and would it turn me in to a monster if I was allowed to own a Walther PPK????? I can't believe the way the rules work!!

The logic of making a handgun prohibited based on barrel length because it is easily concealed, when we aren't allowed legal concealed carry in the first place -- regardless of barrel length -- escapes me.
