This finally came back from the last stage yesterday.

I rushed home after work and got it assembled to shoot today.

How Does it shoot?

The back story?
This gun has been rotting away, and almost forgotten about in the crawl space of my dad's house. I got it back in November and went right to work sanding down the rust. It started life as a classic wooden version and was given to me by a very close relative who passed away, so I wanted to do something spectacular with it. Mission Accomplished in my eyes.

Work done

Casey at Tactical Ordanence (http://www.tacord.com). Casey shortened the barrel from 22" to 18.5", installed some Vang Comp Ghost ring sights with integrated rail, and did the Vang Comp mod to the barrel.

Murdoc at Arma-Coat (http://www.arma-coat.ca). It got it's lovely gloss black finish from Arma-Coat. A Super detailed job by Murdoc. He painted what needed painting and parkerized the rest of the internal moving parts.

Oversized Charging Handle (required some serious dremelling to fit properly)

Wilson combat Tube Extension, plugged to 5 rounds total (but it sure looks good)

I'm having some cycling issues but I need to replace the old original gas seals and give the trigger assembly some TLC.

Nice job man, looking very good. Where about did u get the EZloader, $, and/or how smooth was ordering it from the US.

I updated the original post to provide links to the Charging Handle and EZ-Loader.

Both from Brownells, just keep your order under $100 before shipping and no worries at all.

Very nice build. I've always been kind of turned off by all the engraving on the receiver, but your looks really good.

Thanks for all the compliments. I know "the unc" would like it.

Love your 1100. From what I read the "Dave's Metalworks EZ loader carrier release" need a lot "trimming". How was yours to install?

It was very easy actually. Just a bit of filing to the carrier. If you have a small set of files I think the process took about 20 minutes. It comes with a great set of instructions that shows exactly what material needs removing.

Very nice, I am in the process of doing the same thing. I have already installed the EZ loader, side shell caddy (velcro version), tactical charging handle (round version) and will be taking my second barrel in for shorting to about 20" based on the vented rib configuration (and threaded for chokes too).

I am looking at a 3 rnd mag extension (plugged at 5). I really like the look of the Jack West stocks and will be ordering a custom, 12.5" LOP with adjustable cheek pad. That way I can pop off my 20" barrel, drop in the 28" and have an exceptional trap/skeet gun too.

I'm also going to add a burris fastfire reflex site.

I really like how you did the 2 round fore grip carrier, I have already copied your how to for my use.

It a really good looking and practical gun. I'll post up mine when I'm done, it's going to be a bit though.

Nice gun.

Nice to see an old dog restored to better than new!
I love the engraving under the tactical theme.....shoes where the gun came from and is a kewl contrast.......
I'm sophisticated but don't fawk with me!! lol

I'm a lil surprised the gun came back from Tac Ord not having had the action at least having had a basic refresh with O rings and other wearable parts replacement....especially with the history of the guns life?
Not baching, just surprised. Its one of the 1st things I would have done.

I assume when they cut the barrel back they open up the gas ports to accomodate? These guns are notorious for poor cycling when the barrel gets shortened without addressing this.
I would assume Tac Ord would be competent with this mod.

Again nice gun, and the theme of restoring a loved ones firearm in memoriam is OUTSTANDING IMO! Kudos
