Have a stupid issue/observation with the 2 Promag BER-01 magazines I have. When I loaded 10 rounds into the magazine, I can’t get the magazine to seat in my Beretta 92S if the slide is closed. No issues seating magazine with slide open.

Looks like there isn’t enough room for the rounds to move down slightly during seating when slide is closed. Checked the springs, not stiff and compresses fine. No issues with 9 rounds, 10th round is pretty hard to put in, even with spring removed.

No issues with the original Beretta magazine.

This leads me to believe Promag pinned the magazine wrong?

Anyone else experienced this issue, or am I doing something wrong?

I have a couple intended for CZ/Tanfoglio which don't have that problem (one will swell when loaded...).

However the Cap-Minus-One or slide problem I have with one MecGar which was punched too high, as well as with three two-piece No Name - No Marking for CZ-etc.

You might be able to tweak the follower if you can't return them.

It’s a common issue with these mags. They’re cheap range mags. Maybe the spring will loosen up in time.
Few things you can do. If you have an OEM mag, swap springs and see what that does. Compare the springs, count the coils.
You can clip a coil off for more room. I think that’ll solve this issue for sure.
Beretta has different length spring for whether they’re intended for 10 rounds, or larger capacity mags. Then there are extra power springs as well.
Aftermarket springs may be made of stiffer wire that cause these issues too.
I’ve never bothered with anything other than OEM mags for the very same reasons.
Magazines are the heart of the gun. Don’t cheap out. Buy some good ones.
Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like Promag definitely pinned the magazines incorrectly. I will grab some OEM Beretta magazines.

Update on the ProMags. One of them gave up pretending on its second trip to the range. The lips don't hold the ammo properly anymore as they point up and overshoot the chambers. We actually found a couple of live rounds on the ground...

I got these mags with used Panic-Buys, instead of original ones, and they hardly showed any sign of use.

While Pro-Mag has come out with some interesting products from time to time their mags have a less than stellar reputation. Unless they are the only option available I would always look for other brands. Factory are typically good as are Mec-Gar. Common mags like those for 1911s or Glocks have lots of excellent options but sometimes lesser known gun brands don't leave you with a lot of choice when it comes to extra mags.
