Has anyone else noticed their Promag M14 mount looking kind of screwed up?
I was installing a new to me (EE purchase) mount and noticed that the mount cants heavily to the side.
The rings will take care of it, but it doesnt really inspire confidence.
It is not the Norinco receiver, I dont believe, but the mount itself.
The gun is sitting perfectly flat on the table, the pencils are balanced on the rail segments.

Overall, the whole package looks good, I'll see how it shoots soon!

I'm always suspicious when people are flogging stuff like that. Did you try asking the original owner - if they'd reply.

"hey did you sell me a shonky mount?"

It looks like it is not the side of the mount that is 'off' but just the rail portion.

Have you had an email from M14.ca suggesting you should have bought a CASM yet? Hi Frank cou:

Is the mount bent on the right degree? Like if you put a square to the inside of the angle does it make for 90%?

I had one for a while and it was straight with no issues, but not the strongest mount on the market.

If it was soft aluminum, i might wonder if it got bent after manufacturing.
But it is real steel, and quite thick, so I doubt he managed to bend it.

I would suggest taking it off and reinstalling it from right from square 1. I've mounted a couple of these norks with the Smith Mount and Promag and found that it took a couple times mounting it up to get it just right.

So, a bit of an update on this.

ProMag advertises a lifetime guarantee on their products, so I phoned and talked to a tech guy.
He mentioned that some of the older ones were built out of spec and agreed to replace it.
At first he said to return it directly to PM, but when I mentioned I am in Canada he gave me the Can importers name.
That is High Caliber Services Corp, (www.hical.ca)
He is business member hical.ca here on CGN also.
As he is close by, I phoned him and explained the situation and that I had a Return Auth. number, etc.,
We arranged to meet and swap old for new, and the new one looks good.
I will be off to the range soon.

So thanks very much to Dave from HiCal for helping out! :)
