I had purchased a number of Promag magazines for a Desert Eagle 50 AE. My gun works well with factory magazines. With Promags not so. It appears that the magazine body is to short resulting in the cartridge ramming in to the magazine well. Any similar experiences?

Yeah, same. Have a bunch of promag mags and a few factory mags, the pro-mags wouldn't run great in my .50AE DE. Bought a few more factory mags and they run great.
The spacing between the feed lips is narrower, so I tried opening them up a bit. Helped a little, but they're still unreliable.

Promag is the only brand I have bought that provided magazines so out of spec they simply wouldn't even fit in the gun they were meant for. I have mags from them that work 100% but I would never recommend them over anything I can think of at the moment. Even KCI does better.

As stated, Promag is garbage. Always has been, and they have existed for a long while.
On the plus side, they make magazines (poor ones) for some guns that are impossible to get factory mags for. Better than nothing.
