Hey Everyone,
Thought I might throw out a reminder that there is a club-level prone precision 22 LR match at my club (Twin Cities Rifle Club) this Sunday, Oct 24. It's being run by kombayotch I believe; this will be my first of these matches. Here is the thread in the long range competition forum.

If you live within driving distance of Waterloo, you have a 22 that can reach out to 300 yd (you need about 45 MOA up, through elevation or elevation and mil-dots), and you're free Sunday, come on down! I'm not a good shooter and I managed to reliably hit the 300 yd target during practice. The match targets are quite generous too; for 300 yd the 10-ring is 9.6 inches.

Here is a picture of my brother (also attending) practicing for the match:

Hi Duncan,
To be honest, wind doesn't seem to be the end of the world even for 300 yds. For 200 yds, the gong is boringly easy to hit. For 300 yds, both my brother and I landed 95% of the shots on the target, despite being novice shooters who have yet to learn how to correct for wind.

I think the main factor that makes it doable is that the targets are reasonably sized given the caliber and ranges. In the original thread I posted the link to, the OP posts a link to a webpage with a pdf of match guidelines:

Precision Long Range .22LR Info

If we take the 8-ring as a moderate level of success, it's 18.9" at 200 yds and 28.8" at 300 yds.
