Just wanted to let you folks in on a bit of a learning experience I had that I didn't even realize can be a problem.
Two days of gopher shooting in central Alberta (Saturday and Sunday) for many hours and most of it in sitting or prone position I woke up with nasty swelling on my left elbow. Seems extended pressure and impact from the vertical nature of the hold on the left arm (for a right handed shooter) can damage the elbow and cause a most painful swelling (and lucky me, infection) called bursitis. Didn't even know this was a risk for this position.
The learning is I will be getting a good pair of elbow pads for future shooting events that I shoot prone. Better to be razzed by the buddies in the field than try to suffer through a nights sleep without your elbow touching anything. It's damn painful.
