Proper Firearm Storage

Hi Everyone,

Have been reading online that the cases firearms comes with such as what comes with the HK USP should not be used. I thought a gun rug such as the one below is better but that is also not recommended. What should I store my handgun in???

Well, that does satisfy the bare minimum of storage and transport laws, assuming the gun has a lock on it and the case is locked.
However, my recommendation is to get something that's less likely to grow legs and walk away.
The Stack On cabinets are cheap, they seem to go on sale at Canadian Tire every few months, and for what they are they get the job done. Plus it does help to minimize the amount of "gun" stuff lying around for people to see. Unless you live alone and have no friends and never invite anyone over, someone's going to see your place eventually and all it takes is for one person to tell their friend and then suddenly your gun rug or pistol case or whatever is gone.

And then there's the fact that you're going to buy more, having a home for them is a good idea.
 
Hey, with some of the stuff I've seen written here, it wouldn't surprise me even a little - some folks aren't happy unless life is harder than it needs to be. Whatever you use, put a couple of sillica gel packs (you get them free inside every new pair of shoes) in with the gun.
 
I know they got me freaked out. I read that bore stores are the best to use. Does anyone know where to buy them in Canada?

You can also buy reusable desiccant that can be baked in the oven to dry it out. In many cases you may not even need special moisture protection, a light coat of oil may be enough, and is usually a good idea anyways. Though it really depends on where you live and where the guns are stored.
