Proper screw for PH5C sight?

I have just purchased this sight. I knew ahead that it was missing a screw. It is the one closer to the front of the action, not the one through the sight bracket. Can anyone give me the specs on this screw? I have a couple of local machine shops which have good inventories of parts so might find one there.

That screw replaces the ejector screw. The ejector screw will work, but it is then too short to act as the ejector. Cases might still eject. A safety spring screw or buttplate trap spring screw will also work. The latter might need to be shortened a bit. It is unlikely that you will find a screw with the correct thread; the threads are not North american standard.

I don't have the specs, but here's a guy who makes No.4 long ejector screws for Parker Hale 5C sights etc.

~Angel~ has bought from him in the past and he's terrific to deal with.

Hope this helps.

I also have the name of a guy in Texas who makes the scope mount screws for the Swedish M41B sniper mounts. They break frequently when people over tighten them adjusting windage, or forget to loosen the large locking screw under the Ajack 4x90, AGA m/44 or AGA m/42 mount, before fooling with the actual windage screws. I don't think he does other screws, but if Stonehill can't help you maybe he can.

Thanks guys...as usual a quick response....

I have to confess that today I drove to my machine shop which is a 40 Km. round trip to ask if they could make me a clone of the tumbler / sear from my Martini Henry Mk.1. While I was there I showed the screw to the machinist. He checked the thread and said it was a standars #8 machine thread and then walked to a bin. He asked if it mattered if the head was an allen key? I said no and thought that it would even be more convenient, if not correct, as there would be no chance of buggering the threads. He gave me exactly the correct screw which is alo the right length and it blued. I even replaced the screws on two other PH sights as they had not been quite long enough. If anyone needs or wants one I can provide them. By the way...they are expensive as three cost me $1.00 minimum charge. Installed and looking like they belong. Thanks for the help. Dave

According to measurements I just made, the diameters are within .0005" - half a thou., close enough. I measured a Lee Enfield screw and machinist's Allen head screws. The threads are not identical. Hold the Enfield screw up against the 8-32 with good light behind them, and you can see that they do not mesh. An 8-32 will screw into the receiver a few turns, finger tight, and then jam. Torque it in, and the receiver threads, screw threads, or both will be formed to fit. If it was a receiver that was on a sporter or converted target rifle, I'd run in an 8-32 tap and be done with it.

I stand corrected as usual....

I should have known that you guys knew what you were talking about. I can tell you that I hand screwed the thing in a few turns and then used an allen key and didn't get much resistance. I would think that the screws would conform to the receiver threads as I suspect the reciever would be made of better stuff.....don't correct me if I'm wrong as I might cry! Tiriaq...are you still going to the show this weekend? Will you have time to stop by here?
