I ended up taking out the Savake Mk.2 FV last weekend and shot a few nice groups. I then picked up a digital caliper on sale at CT. I kept the targets, so I would like to know what the proper way to measure the groups is.

Thanks

Good to know! Which ends do you measure from? These groups arent perfect circles, so which way across should I measure? Ill snap a few pictures in a minute.

Two ways that work well:

Measure outside to outside and subtract the diameter of the bullet to get center to center.

Measure from the outside of one to the inside of the other, and you have center to center without subtracting.

Either way that you choose, you always measure the longest distance in any group.

Simply measure the widest part and subtract.

Not 22 but same idea. .485 - .308 = .177" group.

Well, here is what Ive done so far. I measured the 3 groups I shot. Keep in mind, this is the first time I've shot this after sighting it in, and I was using winchester bulk with a 4x Tasco at about 60 yards rested on the hood of my Jeep with only bi-pod up front and about 20-30k winds. I guess they would each work out to just over an inch.
