Pros and Cons Of Finger Grooves?

I kinda had the thought that finger groves would work semi well in duty/combat situations. Where you had to grab the gun quick and draw. The groves helped get the hand grip more where it should be.

I had the the chance years ago to try out S&W Model 10s with various grips and them. And this is what my thoughts were from that experience.

The problem with finger grooves on combat pistol is that you might get a really bad grip on the gun coming out of the holster (gunfights have a referee, and his name is Murphy) and be unable to shift your grip to get a decisive shot off.

I found the opposite. Finger grooves just dont work out for me with gloves on and I had to constanly re-adjust my grip because they didnt line up with my fingers.

Revolvers and Autos are very different when it comes to this - I use Pachy Presentations on revolvers, but just wouldn't dream of using finger grooved grips on a semi. I think it's because of the different hand position and grip used with revolvers.
